The alliance join links are set up so that when you go to that link, two things happen:
1) KoC has you join that alliance.
2) you are forwarded to a new page where the alliance "forums" are.

Thats how it works. It does not ask you to join, it does it automatically for you.

Hmm maybe they sent a wrong link then. Thank you :)

you are forwarded so quickly that you dont get to see it.

The link to an alliance should be in the form:
http://www.kingsofchaos.com/alliances.php?id=XXX&join=crazy string

Where XXX are numbers and where the "crazy string" is a mix of letters and numbers.
An example would be:
http://www.kingsofchaos.com/alliances.php?id=1234&join=123456

(dont actually join that alliance)
However, after going to a link like that, all you would see is:
http://www.kingsofchaos.com/alliances.php?id=XXX
in the url.

In this specific example, it would be:
http://www.kingsofchaos.com/alliances.php?id=3265

Now, if you are not talking about the in game alliances, but rather about joining a player's chain, what you do is this:
go to their page. The url will be in the form:
http://www.kingsofchaos.com/stats.php?id=XXXXXXX
where X is an integer 0 through 9. My page, for example is:
http://www.kingsofchaos.com/stats.php?id=123456

Then, you would click on the button that says "make [so-and-so] my commander!"
For example, mine says:
"Make xxxx my commander!"

By clicking on that button, it will take you to a page with a url in the form:
http://www.kingsofchaos.com/commander_change.php?new_commander_id=XXXXXXX
Where X is an integer 0 through 9. It will be the same previous numbers as their page.

For example, the page to join me would be (note, dont actually go to my page and join me):
http://www.kingsofchaos.com/commander_change.php?new_commander_id=123456

Then, you would type in:

Yes, I am sure I want to change commanders.into the first blank

and your current password into the second blank and click the button that says:
"I want to make so-and-so my commander"
For example, if you were joining me (which you arent), it would say:
"I want xxxx to be my commander"

And, after clicking that button, the player would be your commander in game.

Does that answer your question?

why would you want to join an alliance? alliances are for the weak, pathetic and the overbearing bullies
