Well, I got to having about 4000 soldiers and making over 100k gold per turn. But I still attacked people with more than 200k gold to be able to buy more things, and save some time.

But I found myself having 2 problems:

1) Most of my army was built of untrained soldiers, so I lost 100+ overnight (Undead race).

2) I decided to train all of them into attack, so my casualties decreased to 0-6 overnight.

Now, everytime that I attacked someone and defeat their army, around 16 soldiers of mine died. If 0 were untrained, then 16 attack specialist died. If I had some spare untrained, then those would die.

So, is attacking for gold really worth it?

yep, what nardhipples said. mercs die first, so they are there to keep your TBG soldiers from dying ;)

Mercs are kinda expensive for a 90k income...

thats one of the things u need to consider when attacking people. work out if the gold you will get can cover your costs such as repairs and new merc's and give you left over gold. even if your attacks only give you a bit left over after costs its still more than getting nothing for your turns and wasting them when you reach the limit of 250

buy mercs or train to coverts so you wont lose soldiers when attacking. It'll cut your income in half though, but its a quick covert boost and it allows you to attack with a lot more profit.

You need to optimize your army... if all those soldiers aren't holding weapons, then your army is too big! Train extra soldiers as spies or sentries until you have 1 attack soldier per weapon. With a smaller army you will be a target for less people and you will be able to attack more people and get a better % of their gold... you are aware that if you attack armies smaller then your own the gold you get is terrible right? With an army your size if they are not all holding weapons, you are cutting out a lot of potential targets.

Yes, you will lose income from training, BUT, you will more then make it up in attacks. I'm a dwarf and get a 10% income bonus... and i've calculated that regular soldiers give me about 30gold while coverts give me about 13 gold... just in case your curious what your income would be after training... like I said, your income will drop a lot, but you will more the make it up in attacks.

BTW, increase your spy... there are plenty of targets with over 1 mil gold and horrible defense... many of them keep smaller armies though... so train down.

PM me if you want more info ;-)

keeping a smaller army is good people not only attack you for gold but they attack you to kill off some of your army so you cant be as strong as they are
