I attacked someone who had 15 trained defense soldiers when i had 100 trained attack soldiers and over 200 untrained soldiers with weapons. I got stomped, they killed 2 of my guys and i retreated. HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE? I wasnt ambushed or anything! :saiyan:

....carrying maximum weapons ?
The smaller number of defense weapons your target was carrying were more powerful than your attack weapons.
In any case it's not a good idea to attack a smaller army for gold.
Always try to attack a larger army to get the best percentage of their gold.

Example:
You attack with 200 men with knives.
Your opponent only needs 1 Dragonskin to defend.

That just doesnt make logical sense. How can I tell if someone has a better defense than me? Which numbers dictate that? If I attack with 200 men with knives and they have 1 dragonskin, how can I tell that their 1 dragonskin is gonna kick my ass?

it is hard to find logic here. But imagine every of ur soldiers sticks around with his knife and the other wears a dragonskin. every knife rebounds and he doesnt get any damage :p of course that is overexaggerated, but remember it is a game and the weaps need some name. And it doesnt make sense to buy more expensive weapons if u can make it unnecessary if u just attack with more ppl.

at start of game, i bought 2 of the 50k weapons, and a spy, so i could see enemies money...

always try to get the best weapons, because ull get more strg extra too. example:
knife worth 1k and has 5 strg
Sling worth 1.8k and has 10strg

see? its just the 80% extre money but the 100% extra strg...
(But 4 50k weps = 1 200k wep in strg and money)

so try to get a few of 50k and a few of 200ks...
i got like 30 of 50k and 10 of 200k, i am an orc, and pretty much OWN every guy, except some dwarves...

well good luck, and dont buy cheap things...

I am raising spy so i can see gold and recon better as without spy your Sa isn't going to get you anywhere unfortunately and also because i am always elf so i can sab :)

I also make sure to have one of each cheap weapon to make reconning me harder lol

That was just bad luck, what did the recon you did say out of curiousity?

As mentioned, get more expensive weapons. You see in your armory how strong they are and with a bit maths you might have been able to check out how many you would need to be equivalent armed with small weapons... anyway, what counts are the pure stats. So if you recon someone and get his defense stat, compare it with your attack stat. If your attack is alot better, you might win ^^.
Btw. if you are alot weaker you retreat, either if you are 10k worse in overall ranks.

It's been a while since I've played KoC, but generally numbers don't mean much more than the outnumbering issue and more people to hold the weapons. Outside of that, your 200 people means diddly-squat. His 15 with whatever defense were more than able to stand up to that. Even if like 3 of them had dragon skins he woud have been fine.

When I was actually a part of a clan, the now dead Il Hermandad (Which rocked Hellwars, by the way), we emphasized Spy levels and such, because reconaissance is the best way to make sure your attack turns aren't going to waste. Of course, the big draw back with working on Spy is that, especially early in the game, you're Strike Action is fairly low making it hard to find someone to claim gold from.

Anyway, I'm an old IH fossil, so there may be recent changes that make my points null and void. Anywho, carry on as you will.

yeah, it's hard to make sense when 200 cant kill a well armored 15, yet they dont die in the process either. They just go, clash their knives against their impenitrable armor, and get no gold. Wouldnt it make sense if like 100 kept those 15 busy while the other 100 went and took gold?

I'm still frustrated, but I understand how it works now.

But in that sense of thinking. Is there any purpose at all in training attack/defense soldiers? Or would the gold be better spent simply buying badass equipment for untrained soldiers?

It is best to recon on your target first if you dont know his Defense Action ;)

He was only trying to help...

Anyway, to anwser your latest question. Training units has an effect on your DA/SA and it also effects how many casualties you suffer during an attack.

There's not much point in hypothesising about how your 100 could distract his 15 etc. because the game is based entirely upon mathematics. All the outcomes of battles are based upon formulae so even if you had 5000 men and the other person had 1 soldier, that when his stats are fed into the formula comes out with a higher number, your 5000 men would still lose.

lol the more people you have, the more casualties you get, no? so its much smarter to have 10 guys with uber gear than to have 100000 trained soldiers
