Is it better to start out by arming everybody with sticks and knives, or just save up for blackpowder missiles. I have about 600 soldiers, 20 BPM's, and various other weapons down to warblades.

in my opinion, only buy BPM's and/or knives for banking

well, the theory is that every soldier whether it be attack, def, spy or sent 'should' all carry a weapon.
Your soldier loses will be less if all were equipped.

Now, sure we all want the very top weapons but the reality is its most likely not gonna be possible. Especially if youre a click whore. You'll gain more soldiers that ur TBG can make to equip with top weapons.

Now ill refer to what i was told back in Age2.
Heres 2 scenerios
1000 soldiers with 500 BPMS
1000 soldiers with 1000 Chariots

the ranking of both may be exactly the same but the army with the chariots would lose less soldiers when attacking

so, hypothetically, if i had 850,000 gold, and 850,000 soldiers, it would be better to buy a bunch of knives than it would to buy 1 bpm

Go with bpm. The game is about rating, and if you want to attack, you want the best rating for the fewest soldiers to get to that rating (optimally).
Fewer units = more targets from which you should be getting decent steals.
Fewer units = fewer losses in battle
Fewer units = lower tbg

so... there's both good & bad to it. If you want to make a good amount from attacking, I suggest you have at most as many units as you have weapons... and only the best weapons for your units.

(part of the factor determining losses is the ratio of damages dealt - and that would come out to be pretty low on your end :nervous: )

some numbers:

1 BPM = 12,000 strength, 850,000 cost
1 stick = 2 strength, 200 cost

so for the price of 1 bpm, you could get 4,250 sticks...
4,250 * 2 = 8,500 rating worth for 4,250 sticks
12,000 * 1 = 12,000 rating worth for 1 BPM

so the 1 bpm is considerably more worth than the equivalent cost in sticks ;)

You forget that 2 chariots cost 50,000 more than 1 bpm, so your army of chariots would cost 25,000,000 more to create. Aside from that, an army of 1000 will almost always lose soldiers. This doesn't matter to the army of bpm's, but losing even one soldier from the chariot army will cost you the use of one of your weapons. Go with bpm's.
