Traning and Calculations

It is possible these are out of date. We have not received any updated versions as of yet. If anyone has worked out the latest calculations, please inform us.

Training
Trained soldiers = 5*Weapon Strength
Untrained soldiers = 4*Weapon Strength

Combat Calculations
Strike Action:
5(x)(y)(z)=weapon strength
Let x=strength of weapons added together (If weapons are damaged do not use its full strength e.g. 2558 * 100 = 255800)
Let y=percentage multiplier, in other words your fortification/siege. (e.g. Catapults =3.00)
Let z = (amount of leftover trained soldiers you have that aren't holding weapons * 5) + (amount of leftover untrained soldiers you have that aren't holding weapons * 4)

Defence Calculations
Defensive Action:
5(x)(y)=weapon strength
Let x=strength of weapons added together (If weapons are damaged do not use its full strength e.g. 2558 * 100 = 255800)
Let y=percentage multiplier, in other words your fortification/siege. (e.g. Boiling Oil = 2.75)
Let z = (amount of leftover trained soldiers you have that aren't holding weapons * 5) + (amount of leftover untrained soldiers you have that aren't holding weapons * 4)

- Thanks to Surreal and Lexxer for making these calculations

Additional notes:
For orcs you multiply 1.5 against the final SA to get your bonus.
For Dwarves you multiply 1.75 against the final DA for your bonus.

Untrained & Trained Soldiers Calculations
If you have both trained and untrained soldiers holding weapons, the calculation gets a bit complicated:
First off, your untrained soldiers will hold the weapons of least strength.
So, say you have 20 excaliburs and 5 knives. 20 trained soldiers and 5 untrained. (You can also substitute these with defensive weapons)
The following happens:
20 trained pick up excaliburs.
5 untrained pick up knives.

So, the calculation works like this:
5*2560*20
4*5*5
+
-----------------
256040

Now 256040 is x, and you can input that into the above formula.

you could also try this tool: Link (http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y182/lord_blurg/Calculator.swf)
it isn't perfect but it will help you if you are in doubt whether you should attack or not

Spy Calculations

Right now there are no one who have managed to figure our the new spy/sentry/abotage formulas because they seems to be random and too unpredictable or in other words, impossible to calculate.

Sale
Selling Weapons
You get back
price*0.75*current strength/max strength
when you sell items. (i.e. a dragonskin reduced to 1280 strength would gain you 167,800*0.75*1280/2560 = 62,925)
in other words, you will get 75% back of the original price

Selling Tools
You get back
price*0.45
when you sell items. (i.e. a Rope with 4 strength would gain you 40.000*0.45 = 18.000)
in other words, you will get 45% back of the original price
(Note: Tools can not be damaged or sabotaged)

Q & A

1. Mass attacks are ineffective?
Yup, as of the beginning of Age 3 beta mass attacks have been changed.

"Modified armory damage formula to mitigate the effects of large-scale, coordinated attacks, from weak players."

This means that mass attacks still work, as long as you are strong enough to hurt your opponent's weapons.

2.Why am I losing gold and soldiers?
You are probably being attacked. Check your attack log to see who attacked you, how many soldiers they killed and how much gold they stole from you. Also, for every spy trained you lose one soldier from your total army size, so it will also take away from the amount of turn based gold you gain from every soldier you have as well.

Further note: Spies and sentries do not count toward your army size, so if you lose spies/sentries in covert missions or in battle, your army size doesn't decrease but spies and sentries does contribute to your turn based gold so your turn based gold can drop if your spies or sentries are killed.

3.Why don't I ever kill any enemy soldiers?
The amount of casualties you cause when attacking someone depends on two things: the amount of damage you deal in relation to your enemy's damage and the army size of your enemy. The more damage you deal in relation to your enemy's counter damage and the higher your enemy's army size is, the more units you will kill in battle.

4.What are mercs for/what soldier class dies first?
First off, in battle, the untrained mercenary will always die first, given you have mercenaries. If you have no mercenaries then the untrained soldier will die first. It works like this: (In order from who dies first to who dies last in a battle)
Untrained Mercenary
Trained Mercenary
Untrained Soldier
Trained Soldier
So, purpose of having mercs? To save your soldiers from dying, the ones that are producing that invaluable gold every turn. (That I also mentioned above)

5.A turn progresses but I get no gold! What's going on!?
The best explanation we all have for this issue is that it's a problem with KOC itself. So basically, some bug or internal problems with the KOC servers results in many players not getting gold. In these cases, no one attacked you, hacked your account, etc, etc... Sometimes later in the day you may get a turn that gives all the gold that you missed from earlier, and sometimes not. This bug have been in KOC for a long time and we can only Hope that one day the admins will finally get to the bottom of this and fix this problem, untill then there is nothing we can do about it

6.Whenever I buy something it buys two things on accident and it says "Not enough money for those items." What's going on!? (Similiar issues: When attacking you attack twice, and when repairing it repairs twice.)
Another server bug here, like in the previous question we can only wait for the developers to fix this problem. For some reason it tries to execute commands twice even though you only clicked the button to execute it once. Patience is a virtue, we can only hope that this will be resolved soon.

7.What happened? KOC just ate all my gold and nobody attacked me!
Again it is another server bug, sometimes when you try to buy some weapons or train some soldiers you can get a bad experience, KOC can sometimes eat your gold or steal it when you try to spend your gold, there is nothing you can do solve the problem

8.Where is everyone on KOC from?
http://extremetracking.com/open;geo?login=kofc
or search the Chaos wastelands for a thread which asks the same question

9.How much power/affiliation does GUA have with KOC?
GUA and KOC are two different things, the only connection there is between them is that GUA hosts the Official Kings of Chaos Forum

hello, could you please post about the turn based gold?

how much each unit produces and how much gold spies bring in

for humans and the rest. i cant seem to find this anywhere

Valheru_Prince
14th November 2005, 04:55 PM
Ok for this age:

Humans normal soldier: +/- 34 Gold (Rounded Up)
Other races: +/- 28 Gold
Human Spies/Sentries: 17 Gold
Other races: 14 Gold

I think...should recalculate it though...

Xull
14th November 2005, 05:35 PM
28 for soldiers *1.2 = 33.6 for human soldiers (to be exact, it does get rounded up at the end though)
15 for spies/sentries *1.2 = 18 for human spies/sentries.

Sorry if I missed this somewhere but is there a certain percentage of gold that the enemy steals when they beat you or is it random?

Thank you in advance.

CookieMonsta
29th November 2005, 12:42 PM
It is random but if the robber has a smaller tff (total fighting force) than the target then they get somewhere between 50 and 100%. if the robber has a bigger army than the target then they get less than 50%.

Some say fort levels and/or the ratio of attackers to defenders (trained men not overall size) also affects the pillage rate but in my experience its just tff and a big slice of random factor.

Can you please tell me when in Buddy List, if player is listed as (not active), does it mean that they have deactivated their account or could they be on vacation mode / suspended.

*->Static<-*
28th December 2005, 02:09 PM
If a player is in non-active mode (or in white in your buddy-list) can mean he is on vacation or quited. You can't make out the difference though... You have to ask your buddy for that personal...

1. You can find the list of alliance in the Round Table, which is located here (http://www.giveupalready.com/forumdisplay.php?f=40). Read about them, choose the one you like, and then go to their forum and register. There are specific instruction on their forums. Good clans out there are, hmmm... *cough* Lord Galdor's Clan *cough* and others. GL with that.:)
2. It's about 6-7-8 months after it starts. Age 5 started in Oct ---> you do the math.:)
3. When a new Age starts, everything is reset. You start all over again with 1 soldier. ;)
4. I know. That's why I registered here. ;)

TheNightTraveller

If you use more turns when attacking, do you get more gold?
Yup. PPl always use 15 turns to attack unless it's massing or probe. The amount of gold you steal with 15 turns is not always 15 times larger than the amount of gold you steal with 1 turn. It's pretty close though.;)

Why are some names in the rankings in yellow and other ones in green?

TheNightTraveller
14th January 2006, 08:46 AM
The yellow (bright yellow) names in the ranking page indicates that the person is currently online and logged in. The others are red. I haven't seen green names on ranking page, but it might indicate the race. I am assuming Red is Human, Green is Orc, Bright Green might be Elves and Dwarves....no idea. :)
*Edit: I just found out: If you play Human the names' color is red for offline ppl and yellow for online ppl. If you play Elves, it's bright green for offline and yellow for online. For the other 2, I dont know.:)

is there a possibility for a commander to give money to one of his officers?

TheNightTraveller
18th January 2006, 03:46 PM
is there a possibility for a commander to give money to one of his officers?
Definitely. Here's how:

Tell your friend to lower his Total Fighting Force by training some to Spy/Sentry and you increase your TFF by buying some mercs. Then sell some of your weapons (depends on the amount of gold you wanna transfer), make sure your DA is lower than his SA, at least by 30%. After you sell the weapons, let him attack you and get the gold from you. Remember that he's gonna steal about 60% of your gold, so you may have to do it twice or more to get enough for him. Also, make sure you two maintain communication on MSN or mIRC to prevent anyone from intercepting the sell-off. GL. :weights:

Thanks for your answer.
The problem is that i advanced a little and my friend just joined the game... he cannot have SA bigger than my DA, at least not for a kouple of weeks.
Isn't there another possibility?

Thanks again

TheNightTraveller
19th January 2006, 04:36 PM
Uhmm...let's see.
1. You have been advancing for quite sometime now --> your Spy is much better than the Sentry of the players around your friend's rank ---> you can use your Spy to find gold hits for your friend.

2. This one is risky. You can train all your untrained and Defend soldiers to attack soldiers and kill all your Defending merc. This would leave you with a Defensive Action of 0. Your friend has a SA > 0, doesn't he?

If they are registered on CW or other recruiter that has watchlist or smth similar, you can add them to your watchlist (add their KoC name or stat link) and click them from there. Of course, the address of the recuit page would be their recruit links.

Yes. 1 soldier and 50,000 Gold to start with. You keep all your officers as long as you dont change your name, he doesn't change his name and both your and his acc are activated.

Fortification: upgrades your defence
Siege: upgrades your attack

Why do some nicks appear in a different color?

To see if they are online or offline

Online: yellow
offline: red

but are there any other ways of getting money or do you have to wait for ages?

- Upgrade your unit production: so the more soldiers you have, the more money you get
- Go click on a recruiter(s): The more you click on people's unique link, to more you will be clicked back
- Attack people for gold.
- Ask friends to click on your unique link.

So let's say you are Guy1, you will receive soldiers from Guy 2, Guy 3, Guy 4 & Guy 5, your officer however (Guy 2) will receive soldiers from Guy 3, Guy 4, Guy 5, & Guy 6. So that's also a reason why you (even after subtraction of the unit production) don't get the full amount your officer receives.

question...

I have a TFF of 540 soldiers (from which 100 attack specialist, 40 attack mercenaries and the rest untrained)... and an SA of 1,678,423 (6 BPM and more smaller attack weapons).

MY PROBLEM... I CANNOT ATTACK AND DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY...

last one I attacked ... had DA 316,372 and TFF 650 ... I got the same message as ever: Your soldiers march onto the battlefield and FLEE at the sight of ************'s army!

I get this message over and over again... I lose my attack turns and not even get defeated... WHY? WHAT SHOULD I DO SOME OTHER WAY?

Perhaps the guy you were attacking had a much higher or much lower rank then you. This will prevent you from attacking him and your army will always flee

How can someone with an SA of 161,000,000 beat someone with a DA of 191,000,000?

How can someone with an SA of 161,000,000 beat someone with a DA of 191,000,000?

There is a 'random' factor in the amount of SA and DA. You don't attack with your exact SA and ur target does not attack with their exact DA.

Lets say there is a 10% random factor, and the attack had +10% added to their SA and the defender had a -10% change in their DA

Adjusting the numbers you posted above with the % change listed above, The attacker would then have an SA of 177,100,000 while the DA of the defendar would be 171,900,000. Thus allow the weaker SA to win the battle.

Hope this helps.

don't know if this is the right place to ask this, but can someone use methods of intimidation to recruit you into your army? I got a message from this guy who says he, his alliance, and other alliances will attack me if I don't become on of his officers.
Is this allowed or not? I couldn't find a clear answer in the help guide / rules section.

The guy you attacked probably didn't have more than 200k to spend. You just took all his money

Wow, that sounds stupid?! Forcing u to be his officer.. I am not sure can anything be done by admins...? Umm.. But then again they can make ur game hard and unjoyable.. Best thing to avoid that is to become a part of some other alliance? Send me a PM, I would really want to know who and what alliance uses that kind of recruiting msg?

There is something very important that I want to emphasize, is that when you outnumber the target your captured gold is terrible! Almost nothing for me a few times before a realized what was going on. Their DA, however, besides whether you beat them or not, has almost no effect.

For that guy who is being intimidated, join a really supportive alliance like The Family. They declare war for things like that. I've taken part, and generally the enemy is reduced to 0. Like absolutley. Except maybe for a few spies/sentries left. No weapons, no troops. Nobody messes with the family. you can check it out here: http://s8.invisionfree.com/tenaga/index.php

Hi

I have a similar problem to Farore3, just not as severe. Can anyone please tell me why i only do 2 thirds of my SA?? If I have 9 million, I will only do about 6 million. This is way beyond the 10% fluctuation mention in this thread earlier. What is going on?
