View Full Version : Buying upgrades more easy!

If you want to buy an upgrade, you usally have to sell a lot to buy it.

Well, what if you can always push the button? Example: You want to buy a stronghold for 81 mill. and you have only 1 mill... You push the button and you only have to pay 80 mill...!! I only think you have to secure it with the codes stuff, because otherwise people would use auto-upgraders in stead of the autobuyers of the age before....

I think it's a very reasonably idea...What about you?

(Btw, there really should be some more upgrades, that's the best of the game, but there are upgrade-posts posted allready..)

sounds good at first until you realize that then there would rarely be anything in the treasury for people to attack... however I suppose you only really get attack when you are away from the game for sometime so i guess that option sounds alright. Or maybe you could have a safe option where you can store X amount of gold in that in order to save for whatever you please.

yeh it would be ok but everyone would upgrade so easy, it would be simple.
Just spend whatever money you have on the upgrade, however small.

Yes, it wont be that effective. When you have no challenge left in life, you know you are not alive. Upgrading fortifications or covert levels is a challenge that an upcoming and even a veteran player has to face. If upgrading in insstallment would be possible, then it would be boring, just keep adding your money and get boiling oil, noneed to save your money, defend it from ravenous gold-hunters like me, nothing..just plain old stacking up your money. It would be plain boring.

ok, but there should be more upgrades anyways ;)

Maybe it would make de games more boring, I don't know...

I don't know if there should be more upgrades, maybe more spy upgrades but the fortification and siege upgrades need to be more expensive imo.

i'm sure that there would ba lot of auto-upgraders then so the admins would make the upgrades like the weapons buy with characters

I agree that it would make it too easy.. soon enough everyone would have hand of god.. even if they added more upgrades, it'd just be way too easy to get them. Maybe if they added a bank system? Not an auto-bank but give you a certain ammount of deposits each day (1-3), and only being able to deposite 60-80% of your gold at a time. This way you don't lose money while banking for upgrades, but at the same time it's not quite so easy?

I'm sure a banking system has been discussed before, and I'm sure I'll get a ton of responses about how it wouldn't be fun, wouldn't work, etc.. just my opinion that if they were going to make upgrading easier, that would be a better way.

I remember playing some game ages ago with a bank - forget which, but not one of the ones frequented by KoCers nowadays. It only allowed me to bank twice a day and there was a limit to my banking. But the system still seemed to take away from the overall activity of the game.

I don't know if it's fair to compare KoC to a game without as wide, or as active, a player base - or with as different a system. But to me, banking using a bank has a couple of bad points:

- it doesn't require computational skill or finesse (as does banking weapons)
- it lessens incentive to search for good steals

It's not that it wouldn't work, or wouldn't be fun. But without severe restrictions it is just too simple a solution to too many "problems" and doesn't promote player activity.

Ya Id love to see many more upgrades (even though ive still to see alot of them for myself)

There should be upgrades that cost so much money that the top players are not able to buy them untill like the last 2-3 weeks of the age, if atall!!

By adding just 2 extra early fortification upgrades, the Hand of God is something to really aim for and not just a given for the top players.

None - Every 1 starts with No fortifications.
Camp - 20,000 gold - +10%
Stockade - 40,000 gold - +10%
Rabit Pitbulls - 80,000 gold - +10%
Mote and Bailey - 160,000 gold - +10%
Walled Town - 320,000 gold - +20%
Towers - 640,000 gold - +20%
Battlements - 1,280,000 - +20%
Portcullis - 2,560,000 - +20%
Boiling Oil - 5,120,000 - +20%
Trenches - 10,240,000 - +20%
Moat - 20,480,000 - +20%
Drawbridge - 40,960,000 - +25%
Fortress - 81,920,000 - +25%
Stronghold - 163,840,000 - +25%
Palace - 327,680,000 - +25%
Keep - 655,360,000 - +25%
Citadel - 1,310,720,000 - +30%
Dragon Breath - 2,621,440,000 - +30%
Hand of God - 5,242,880,000 - +40%*

Have similar ammount for the Attack upgrades.

At these prices very!!!!! few people if any would get the Hand of God, as it should be.

* - seen as it costs so damn much, could add extra incentive to get it :)

At present around 50 people will end with Hand Of God. Not very elite is it?

i think upgrades should be more effective, like goin up 50% each time instead of 25%, cuz its seems sometimes that people are unneccissarily (sp?) afraid of seein high fortifications, but in reality have no defense wutsoever

but easier upgrades, i'm actualy fine with the way they are, don't want this to be like us gov't: deficit spending... (no offense to anyone patriotic)

percentage-scaled upgrades are an excellent suggestion. with those percentages it might make things too hard at lower stages, but point well taken.

to go off the original post about banking you money for upgrades. I dont like it makes it to easy. another way is to have it automatically sell what ya need to sell to buy the upgrade so you dont have the chance of it getting stolen during the transaction, or using the banking idea like in other games like RoT (i think it was that game).

But I like the fact that you have to be fast and that there is a chance you millions can get stolen in the one second it took you to click upgrade. makes it more fun.

i dont think that upgrades need to be cheaper, they are good as they are now. many people in the top ranks reach the 'hand of god' at the end of age. so 'hand of god' does not sound like the final fortification as many people can reach it. on the other hand you can introduce more fortifications and siege technologies than there are right now. the costing system will be the same as it is right now. and as already said before by someone it also makes the game more fun as millions of your money can be stolen within a few seconds, so you need to be fast. so you need to have a plan while stealing gold form others. this makes the game more interesting.
