There is a severe lack of mercs...

The front page indicates more mercs available this time around although it also advises of a UP increase. UP combined with crazy clicking have produced crazy armies already [The Top 5 will have 5 million men, in total, soon]...

Id reckon that the limited numbers of mercs available are in place to slightly hold back big players...

Ive sat on the merc page for ages, result = zero...

Anyone else feeling the same?...

[btw-im on KoC for most of the day-I check the merc page regulary and am willing to sell kit to buy them :backin: ]...

I think thats because the higher ranked players buy them all in 1 time :bs:

Instead of using mercs, who dont you use a recruiter like Clickwhore to get soldiers and then train them to attack or defend? Its probably easier and u get tbg (turn based gold) for them.

Yeah, I was about to create my own thread on this... I'm desperate for mercs at the moment... they started out being there at every turn, now they're there less than they were before the changes were made. I know there's a high demand for them by everybody, I think there needs to be about 50,000 of each type available every turn now to ensure that people can get some.

If you want to save up your clicks and make sure that your men are not being killed all the time by attacks train them to attack soldiers and they do not participate in defencife action. It is better for you when you don't want to click useless.

I wouldn't buy merc - if you paid me... lack of flexibility when you wanna resize...

I buy untrained mercs...but only when i want to attack, and I dont feel like losing 30 tbg guys. but the frequency with which new ones come in is now random, so it is much more difficult to pop in and buy some. When I am able to, I stock up so I dont have to keep checking it again.

In order to not suffer casualties from defending, I train my guys to be attack specialists so I never have over 600 untrained soldiers, usually less.

Just go and attack people to kill off those mercs so they become available again...

Mercs...at least to me are a disadvantage for three reasons:
1. They are expensive. (training a soldier costs 2000 gold, training a merc costs 4500)
2. They dont bring in any gold.
3. U can only buy 25%, so unless u have a pretty large army like that of lordy or in that case the toppers, theyre not of much use.
(I used to buy them, but since i spend most of my money upgrading my soldies, training them and all, i pretty much feel mercs dont contribute much, since theyre the first who die in battles and who have cost u more than ur average soldier.)

That is exactly the reason why I want mercenaries in my army :)

At the moment, I`m losing approximately 30 men every time somebody with a decent SA attacks me. I'd much rather lose mercenaries, that don't generate TBG, than lose soliders that do generate TBG. For the people in the higher ranks, that lose more than 1,000 soldiers per attack/defense...(probably a lot more than 1,000 now) well, that's a minimum of 28,000 TBG lost. In the long run, that's a lot of money, and buying mercenaries helps pervent that loss of money :)

i agree with deity..

only if your tff is realy low.. say below 500..
u wont need mercs..
otherwise..
remember evry soldier generates gold not only the next turn but all to come..
so say u lose 30 soldiers and think,.. no big deal..
try this:
(150 (remaining days)) times (48 (turns a day)) times (30 (soldiers lost)) times (20 gold (average income per soldier)) = a sloppy 4.3 milion..

id say u can buy some mercs from that..
